The Hearthlight Club meets fortnightly on Discord to listen to each other’s stories. We tell original stories, folktales, favourites – anything we want as long as we make it our own. The goal is to enjoy sharing stories together, rather than prefection. Although we do try our best to create the best stories we can, the important thing is to get involved!
Because we just tell stories for fun, we don’t tend to write them down. However, we wanted something to have some physical testament to the storytelling, so we started work on a zine. The first volume of “Hearthlight” has taken a while to come together, but we’re proud of the outcome. If you’d like to read it, you can download copies of Hearthlight zines here.
What happens at The Hearthlight Club?
We start every session with a long catch up and chat. It’s nice to get to know each other, but initially we did this because it’s scary to start telling stories! At some point we ought to tell some stories though, so we try to tell at least two stories in every session, although sometimes we tell many more than that.
Who can join The Hearthlight Club?
Anyone can join us, but we’d like to keep the spirit of the club the same. We’d like the stories to be short enough that we can hear multiple stories in a session and we’d like to have members who are at least as interested in other member’s stories as their own. If you’re interested in joining you can get in touch on the Contact Us page.
Who can contribute to the club’s zines?
We will likely include stories from people outside the club if they fit well, but we will prioritise stories from people inside the club. If you’d like to contribute to an upcoming zine you can get in touch on the Contact Us page.
